Faculty
Anne Pringle, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology
Harvard University
Anne Pringle is interested in the biology of species whose life histories and body plans seem very different from our own. DNA technologies have facilitated an explosion of knowledge related to the diversity, biogeography, and autecologies of fungi. These species encompass a heterogeneous array of both microbes and macrobes, and the Pringle laboratory uses fungi as tools to test and elucidate general principles of ecology and evolution. Anne Pringle is currently exploring how ecological forces shape fungal associations with plants, and is also interested in fungal conservation biology and the biomechanics of fungal movements. Specific questions focus on how symbioses reform as fungi move across landscapes, the impacts of an invasive mushroom on local biodiversity, and the demography of modular species.
Pringle holds a Ph.D. from Duke University's Department of Botany and University Program in Genetics. She holds an undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Chicago.
